Many times I have been in the position where I needed a favor from someone. This usually involves a need that I have but can’t fulfill by myself. So I ask someone to do this very thing for me. It is a humbling experience requiring that I acknowledge that I have a need and am unable to fulfill it.
God is in the business of granting favors. Psalm 84:11 says, “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.” If we are honest with ourselves, we have many needs that we cannot fulfill on our own. We have the need for love, peace and joy. Most of the time, these attributes escape us in our feeble efforts to secure them. We also have the need for salvation and redemption from judgment for our sins and slavery to them. Again, we have no way of securing these needs on our own. Fortunately, God in His grace has fulfilled these needs through His unmerited favor toward us in His Son Jesus Christ. By Jesus’ death on the cross He took all our sins upon Himself and secured the Father’s favor in forgiveness for our sins and cleansing from them.
We continue to receive God’s favor as we walk with Him in righteousness as He leads us and empowers us to do so. Earnestly seek the Lord’s favor by accepting His gift of salvation and then walking with Him.
