Cause for Celebration

People celebrate Easter in many ways and for many reasons. Most have family gatherings and lots of food. Some will have Easter egg hunts. Many will go to church. Unfortunately, many will simply ignore the significance of this day.

Mark 16 tells the story of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Some followers of Jesus went to the tomb bringing spices to anoint the body of the crucified Jesus. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb entrance. Then Mark writes, “And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. And he said to them, ‘Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him.'”

Easter is not a cute story of bunnies and eggs. It is the life giving and life changing story of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. He did die a horrible death on the cross. And His blood provides the salvation that we all need. But He does not remain dead and in the grave. He is risen indeed! It is His resurrection that gives life to those who believe. It is the resurrection of Jesus that gives us hope for eternity and life today. This is cause for celebration!

After 16 years of vocational ministry, God has called me to a simpler ministry. Now I just proclaim His truth simply to those who are open to hear it. God is speaking through His Word and His creation.
