Building Up or Tearing Down

When we do something nice for someone, somehow we feel good inside. But when we are harsh or unkind toward someone, we feel bad inside and it probably takes some time and specific actions to feel better.

Proverbs 11:17 says, “Your own soul is nourished when you are kind, but you destroy yourself when you are cruel.” Kindness flows from the love of God in us, therefore when we are kind we are drawing from and feeding the best part of ourselves. This explains why we feel good inside when we are kind toward others. We are actually building our souls up when we are kind. On the other hand, we are tearing our souls down when we are harsh or unkind toward others. Let us draw upon the love of God within us to be kind toward others and do acts of kindness for others.

After 16 years of vocational ministry, God has called me to a simpler ministry. Now I just proclaim His truth simply to those who are open to hear it. God is speaking through His Word and His creation.
