God has given us many promises and He fulfills every one of them. Yet sometimes He seems to be very slow when we ask Him for something, even if our request is clearly within the will of God. When we ask for patience, God says, “Wait”. Why? Because waiting is the very nature of patience, so we learn patience by practicing waiting, instead of Him just granting the gift of patience. We ask God for wisdom, but tend to move ahead of Him and fail to wait for Him to grant us the wisdom that we requested.
II Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” God fulfills all His promises at the perfect time. He eagerly waits for us to become right before Him, turning away from our sins and humbly coming to Him. For those who have not yet trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation and redemption, God is patiently waiting for you to turn to Him. In fact He is withholding the end of this age of history and the beginning of the new earth and new heaven, patiently waiting for you to come to Him.
