My wife takes a lot of pictures, mostly of the grandchildren. She does this because the pictures are the images of good times with our beloved grandkids. The pictures help us remember these good times and reflect the images of what our grandkids looked like at the time. If you travel around the country you will find statues of famous people and events. Again, these images excite our memories of these times and serve as images of those who inspired the artwork. Statues, art, recordings and photos present images of people and events, but are limited by our senses and imaginations.
Speaking of Jesus Christ, Paul writes in Colossians 1:15-17, “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities, all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” Jesus is preeminent and sovereign over all things. All things were created by Him and for Him, and are sustained by Him. Furthermore, He is the image of our God, showing us the Father. As the creator and sustainer of all things, sovereign authority and power over all things, and the image of the Father He is worthy of worship.
