Over and over again, we read in God’s Word that God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Humility does not deny our strengths, but correctly evaluates our weaknesses. God specifically designed and created each of us. Our physical, emotional, and psychological makeup was designed by Him to fulfill specific purposes that He has for our lives. We can and should praise and thank Him for His design in us.
Psalm 131 says, “O Lord, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me. But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me. O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and forevermore.” True humility brings forth contentment. Humility opposes the notion that we need attention or something more. The humble person finds hope in the knowledge of God.
