Kindness Received, Kindness Given

A few years ago a movement called “Pass It Forward” became popular, largely based upon a movie. The idea was to pass on to others the kindnesses that we receive. The movie told the story of a boy who did so and sparked a wave of kindness through his school and family.

Psalm 41:1-3 says, “Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor. The Lord rescues them in times of trouble. The Lord protects them and keeps them alive. He gives them prosperity and rescues them from their enemies. The Lord nurses them when they are sick and eases their pain and discomfort.” The Lord is kind to us in our weaknesses. He rescues us when we face trouble. He protects us when we are weak. He cares for us when we are sick, easing our pain and discomfort. Therefore we should be kind and care for those who are also weak, passing forward the blessings that we receive and modeling the kindness of God.

After 16 years of vocational ministry, God has called me to a simpler ministry. Now I just proclaim His truth simply to those who are open to hear it. God is speaking through His Word and His creation.
