My mind tries to convince me that I can do what I used to be able to do. However, my body balks at such talk, knowing the realities of my current strengths and weaknesses. God loves to override our weaknesses with power directly from Him. It is in our weaknesses that we can find faith to follow God, even through difficulties.
In Joshua 14:11-12 Caleb declares, “I am still as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me; my strength now is as my strength then, for war and for going and coming. So now give me this hill country of which the Lord spoke on that day, for you heard on that day how the Anakim were there, with great fortified cities. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall drive them out just as the Lord said.” Caleb was 85 years old when he said these words. Though old, he was asking to be given the hill country, which were possessed by giant people, and fortified cities. He would have to fight these people in these conditions to possess this land. But he believed God was going to give him the land. God did. Just because something appears to be difficult doesn’t mean that God doesn’t want you to do it. Believe Him and win the battle.
