Earning Rewards

Sometimes we are presented with the opportunity to earn rewards. We put in significant effort and time to do what is required, only to find out it was not enough and we don’t receive the reward. It can be devastating and is always discouraging, sometimes to the point of not wanting to try again.

Psalm 24:3-5 says, “Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, and who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. He will receive blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.” A pure heart and hands cleansed from all sin are necessary to stand in the presence of God. We cannot achieve these attributes on our own, but must trust in the cleansing sacrifice of Jesus and live in righteousness by the power of His Spirit.

After 16 years of vocational ministry, God has called me to a simpler ministry. Now I just proclaim His truth simply to those who are open to hear it. God is speaking through His Word and His creation.
