The Oxford Language Dictionary defines righteous as “morally right, justifiable, virtuous, very good, and excellent.” Most of us would like to live our lives in this way. Even when we are successful in doing so much of the time, we still fail miserably some of the time. However, God has given us the Handbook for righteous living in God’s Word, the Bible. Even better is the fact that the Bible teaches us about who God is. As we get to know Him better, we will respond to His mercy and grace by loving Him more and following Him more faithfully.
Proverbs 1:2-4 says, “To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth.” The Bible was given to us to reveal God’s nature and to show us how to live in the wise, morally correct, just and justifiable way.
