What is it about people that we can maintain a strong relationship with a sports team, celebrity, political position, or hobby, and yet can let other relationships grow cold. Whenever our team is active, we wear team colors, watch the games, and even yell out our passion. Whenever our favorite celebrity comes around, we fawn in adoration. When our voice is needed to uphold our political stance, we are loud and proud. Whenever we get the chance to partake in our hobbies, we don’t miss the opportunity. But when it comes to building our relationships, the time and effort is found lacking.
Romans 12:10-12 says, “Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.” Do let your zeal for the Lord soften. Remain fervent in worshipping and serving the Lord and in your love for one another. Our relationship with the Lord is our most important one, so we can’t affort for it to grow cold in any way.
