As I get older, some things are more difficult for me to understand. For one thing, my hearing is bad, so I often don’t hear all the information. For another thing, sometimes I feel like my mind is in a fog and, even though I observe everything, I don’t always understand. Then, having lived outside this country for several years, I haven’t kept up with trends and news to help understand the background of events and conversations. It is like a veil is placed over my ability to understand at times.
II Corinthians 3:15-16 says, “Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts. But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.” Before we come to Christ, we lack the ability to understand spiritual truths as if a veil covers our minds and hearts. But once we trust in Jesus, the veil is removed and we begin to understand these truths and become transformed by them.
