We derive our standards based upon a number of different factors. Some are based upon our experiences and some come from respected and informed sources. And some standards are given to us from such entities as the manufacturers of certain goods.
I Samuel 2:2 says, “There is none holy like the Lord: for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God.” The standard by which anything can be morally judged is the complete holiness of God. Moral judgments apart from God’s holiness are meaningless and self-serving.
