Mail Delivery

I think mail delivery is a great job. You get to be outside most of the day. You get to deliver greeting cards, hopefully with kind greetings. Often you get to meet nice people. I just witnessed our mail man help an elderly lady with her large package. If you enjoy working alone, this isContinue reading “Mail Delivery”

Liberty

What is liberty? Is it the freedom to do whatever we want? I suggest that it can’t be. We live in community with others, doing whatever we want will often interfere with the freedom of others to do what they want. In that case our liberty takes away from the liberty of others, so itContinue reading “Liberty”

Gifts

The holiday season is approaching so I have been thinking about gifts. Giving gifts is truly giving when we don’t expect anything in return. We give gifts to family members because we love them, but sometimes in the back of our minds we are expecting a gift in return. We give gifts to charities becauseContinue reading “Gifts”

Hair is a Tricky Thing

I have a very hairy chest and back. I know that is TMI (Too much information), and you really don’t care. But recently I had a medical procedure where they had to shave off all that hair before the procedure. It was both disgusting to the medical assistant and embarrassing to me. Worse than that,Continue reading “Hair is a Tricky Thing”

COVID Test

I had to get another COVID test today. Someone we worked closely with last week tested positive on Saturday, so we quarantined ourselves and had another sample taken. I am not sure how a swab taken from your nose tells whether or not you have the disease, but the science suggests that it can. SoContinue reading “COVID Test”

Washing to be Really Clean

Have you ever had the experience of washing your hands only to find out that they still are not really clean? I eat a lot of fruit with my hands. Afterward my hands are sticky, so I wash them. Many times I will then sit down to read and find that my hands are stillContinue reading “Washing to be Really Clean”

Walking in the Darkness

Every morning I get up early to walk about 8 miles. It takes me about two hours. I really enjoy the quiet and time alone to pray and meditate. Most of the time I am walking under street lights so I can see clearly and walk safely. Part of my walking path, however, is notContinue reading “Walking in the Darkness”

Promises

It is amazing how confidently we speak about the future. We casually promise that we will do something or be somewhere on some future date. I guess that these promises can be good if they truly state our intentions. However we really don’t know whether we can fulfill the promises we make. Any number ofContinue reading “Promises”

Falling Leaves

Autumn brings a cascade of color. The leaves turn many shades of red, orange, yellow and brown. We have one tree in our area that I call the rainbow tree. It displays various colors in layers from top to bottom. It’s all very beautiful, especially if you can catch a view of the colors alsoContinue reading “Falling Leaves”

Officer Appreciation

Today, my wife and I will volunteer at an annual event to appreciate police officers. We count it a privilege to give just a little back to those men and women called to serve and protect us. They will be given a day to play and eat with their families. I am well aware ofContinue reading “Officer Appreciation”
