Seeing What Is Possible

Sometimes we are hesitant to do a new thing because we don’t think that we can do it. But once we see this new thing done by someone else, we gain confidence and may try to do it ourselves.

Matthew 28:5-6 says, “But the angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come see the place where he lay.'” Because Jesus rose from the grave, eternal life is available to us by faith in Him. Because He rose from the grave, it is demonstrated that no problem in our lives is too difficult for God to resolve. Because He rose from the grave, death is defeated and Jesus lives. Jesus is Savior and Lord.

Waiting on Goodness

We are in the habit of waiting expectantly for something good. We do this with Prime deliveries, Christmas, vacations, and many other good things. Knowing that something good is coming gives us hope and strength to carry on when things are not so good.

Psalm 27:13-14 says, “I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” For God’s people, knowing that God is always good gives us strength and courage. This knowledge allows us to wait upon Him without fear for whatever we need.

Limited Lifespan

Whatever man builds, creates, or does has a limited lifespan. It will decay or become obsolete in a relatively short time. Even in the short time period that our works are useful, these works may not be used as we intended.

Ecclesiastes 3:14 says, “I perceived that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it. God has done it, so that people fear before him.” God does His works and nothing can be added to them to make them better or more fruitful. He will also not allow anything to be taken away from His plan and purpose. All His works will bring Him glory so that all people will honor Him.

Protect What Is Precious

We do whatever we can to protect the things which are precious to us. We take care of our families,  making sure they are safe, fed, clothed, and happy. We put our valuables in safes and placed in secure locations. We do our best to protect people and things, but what do we do to take care of our souls?

Deuteronomy 4:9 says, “Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children’s children.” Because your soul is precious, diligently protect it from falsehood and evil. Feed your soul with truth and faith. Remember God’s blessings and walk according to His promises.

Assembly Required

You’re assembling a complicated piece of technology. You have a complete set of instructions by your side, but you are struggling with the assembly. The instructions are thorough, but difficult to understand. Suddenly, the designer and developer of this technology comes and offers his personal assistance. With his expertise, the assembly goes smoothly and efficiently.

Psalm 25:4-5 says, “Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.” We can not and will not learn God’s ways on our own initiative. We must ask Him to teach us and lead us to truth and the way of righteousness.
