True Excitement

“And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from their sight. They said to each other, ‘Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?'” Luke 24:31-32

After the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, two of His disciples were walking to a nearby village. As they walked, they were discussing the events surrounding the cross. Suddenly Jesus joined them on the road, but they did not recognize Him. Jesus began to explain how the Scriptures prophesied about Him. The Scriptures clearly foretold His birth, life, death and resurrection. The Scriptures also revealed that Jesus was God’s plan for salvation. Then their eyes were opened to recognize the resurrected Jesus and to understand the Scriptures.

We should ask God to open our eyes to see what He is doing around us. We should also ask Him to open our hearts to understand and apply the Scriptures to our lives. Join me in asking God to set our hearts aflame with passion for Him and with compassion for people.

After 16 years of vocational ministry, God has called me to a simpler ministry. Now I just proclaim His truth simply to those who are open to hear it. God is speaking through His Word and His creation.
