Kicking Against the Goad

I heard a testimony of a young woman today. She had a rough life and had made many bad choices according to her own words. One night she found herself handcuffed in the back of a police car. As they were driving her to the police station, she asked God, “Why do all these bad things keep happening to me?” Suddenly, she heard the clear voice of God ask her, “When will you stop resisting me?” She responded, “Now!” God may need to take drastic action if we continue to resist Him.

Acts 9:3-5 says, “Now as he went on his way, he approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven shone around him. And falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ And he said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And he said, ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.'” Rejecting or resisting Jesus is the same as persecuting Him in the eyes of Him who abundantly loves us. Saul thought that he was doing good by arresting Christians, but he was resisting the truth. God took drastic measures to change his heart, and the world was changed as well. Let’s stop resisting God, and instead, let’s allow Him to change our lives by surrendering to the truth, Jesus Christ.

After 16 years of vocational ministry, God has called me to a simpler ministry. Now I just proclaim His truth simply to those who are open to hear it. God is speaking through His Word and His creation.
