Pleasing God

The best gifts are those given with thoughtfulness and effort. When we are sensitive to the needs and desires of others, and then, go out of our way to meet those needs, we are demonstrating our love for them. Personal sacrifice seems to be an essential ingredient to possessing and demonstrating love.

Hebrews 13:15-16 says, “Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” Although we are no longer called to make animal sacrifices, two sacrifices are pleasing to God. The first sacrifice is offering praise to God for who He is and what He does. The second sacrifice is doing good works to help other people. These sacrifices demonstrate our love for God and for people.

After 16 years of vocational ministry, God has called me to a simpler ministry. Now I just proclaim His truth simply to those who are open to hear it. God is speaking through His Word and His creation.
