Proper Request

If you have ever tried to work with a government office to get something you need, you know that it can be a difficult and frustrating process. You have to fill out the paperwork correctly and provide the appropriate backup documentation. Often, government also applies a time frame for the request and requirements for approvals during the process. All this is to say that we must bring our requests in the proper manner.

Luke 11:9-10 says, “And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” Jesus gives us 3 keys to prayer in these verses. First we must seek God and His righteousness. Then, we come before God’s throne, knocking on the His door, granted access by the blood of Jesus Christ. Then, we are prepared to petition God, trusting that He will give to us according to His will and our needs.

After 16 years of vocational ministry, God has called me to a simpler ministry. Now I just proclaim His truth simply to those who are open to hear it. God is speaking through His Word and His creation.
