We just had guests from Europe stay at our house for a few days. Before they arrived, we did what anyone would do in preparation, making sure that they would be as comfortable as possible during their stay.
Isaiah 40:3-5 says, “In the wilderness prepare the way of the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.” This prophecy regarding John the Baptist also speaks to the one to whom the Lord comes. We must remove the barriers to faith that we have placed before the Lord. But He makes the way smooth for His approach to us. In the end, the glory of the Lord is revealed and faith through grace comes upon us.
