When we were small children, we could find comfort and peace within the fort made of living room furniture and blankets. All we needed was our favorite teddy bear and the knowledge that mom was close by. As we get older, we seek more mature forms of refuge from life’s struggles. We may seek peace in our favorite alcoholic beverage, television show, or hobby. These forms of refuge are temporary and not all that comforting.
Psalm 91:9 says, “For you have made the LORD, my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place.” Where can we go for comfort, security, protection, and peace? God has all authority and power and wisdom to be our perfect refuge in the midst of the storms and troubles of life.
