Appearances and Attraction

Even in Jesus’ era, the world had different standards for appearances and attraction than the standards that God established. The world looks for a beautiful, wealthy, supremely talented, and intelligent savior for its problems. God sent the world a Savior and they did not, and still do not, recognize Him because God’s Savior did not meet their standards.

Isaiah 53:2 says, “For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of parched ground; He has no stately form or majesty that we should look upon Him, nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him.” This prophesy of the coming Messiah reminds us that Jesus took upon Himself a humble form and became a servant. This knowledge should encourage us and give us hope that God loves us and can use us mightily in our own humble state.

After 16 years of vocational ministry, God has called me to a simpler ministry. Now I just proclaim His truth simply to those who are open to hear it. God is speaking through His Word and His creation.
