Have you ever been listening to someone speak and you just can’t believe what they are saying? Perhaps it is because of the reputation of the speaker. Many times, it is because we hold a set of beliefs that is contrary to what the speaker is saying. If we they are saying is true, however, we may be missing out on some important or helpful information.
I Corinthians 1:23-25 says, “but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser that men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” People rely on their own strength and wisdom to try and get the most out of life and to make right decisions. The power and wisdom that people use and depend upon ignores the wisdom and power of God. We have a much greater opportunity available to us if we will only trust in God’s wisdom and strength.
