The perspective that we choose to take regarding our problems determines the actions that we will take thereafter. Let’s assume that a ferocious animal has approached us in the forest. Facing that animal at ground level is frightening, to say the least. If we climb a tree and become out of reach for the animal, our fears lessen a bit. If we are rescued by a helicopter, our fears are significantly diminished as we look down on the animal.
I Samuel 17:45-46 says, “Then David said to the Philistine, ‘You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand.'” Goliath relied on his own size and strength to fight the battle. David knew that the battle belonged to the LORD. When our problems seem great, we should trust in God’s perspective of the problem and His size and strength to fight the battle. We often need to take the higher perspective of God’s view of our difficulties. Trusting Him to fight our battles removes the fears.
