In our justice system, witnesses are called to speak the truth and nothing but the truth. Unfortunately, witnesses do not always speak the truth. Personal biases and limited understanding of the situation can taint a witnesses story.
In John 18:37-38 Jesus is examined by Pilate; “Then Pilate said to him, ‘So you are a king?’ Jesus answered, ‘You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world – to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.’ Pilate said to him, ‘What is truth?'” God gives us a choice whether to believe the truth and live or to ignore the truth and go our own way. Jesus was a witness for the truth in His life, death, resurrection and His words. We must be a similar believer of the truth and witness for the truth.
