Suppose you are given a special gift from a special person. The gift is a luxury item that gives you much pleasure. So, you make plans to use the gift frequently, deriving much enjoyment. You spend a lot of time with this gift and come to view it as an essential part of your life.
Psalm 16:5-6 says, “LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine. The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance.” When we become children of God, He becomes our inheritance. He is good and His blessings are pleasant. Furthermore, He protects all that He gives us from destruction or theft. We need nothing more.
